Looking for a fun summer job where you have the ability to make a positive impact? Swanson Highlands Pool is currently seeking professional, enthusiastic, motivated & dependable certified lifeguards for the summer 2025 season. Lifeguard applicants must hold current certification through The American Red Cross. Ellis & Associates Lifeguard certifications will also be accepted. This is a seasonal position. The pool will be open to our members from Memorial Day Weekend - Saturday May 24th, 2025 through Labor Day - Monday September 1st, 2025.

2025 Season Employee Availability Requirements

  • Mandatory Pre-Season Training Dates - TBD in May

  • Saturday, May 24th - Sunday, May 25th -- Opening Holiday Weekend.

  • Mandatory Bi-Monthly In-Service Training Dates throughout the season - TBD in June, July, August

  • Father’s Day - Sunday, June 15th

  • Independence Day - Friday, July 4th

  • Saturday, August 30th - Monday, September 1st -- Closing Weekend.

Basic Employee Eligibility Requirements:

  • Minimum working age of 15 +

  • Ability to work with people of all ages

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Problem-solving & multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Availability:

    • Must have some flexibility with shift scheduling.

    • May require early mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, evenings, etc. All staff are expected to be available to work holiday shifts including but not limited to: Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day.

  • Current lifeguard certification through approved organization:

    • Red Cross /or/ Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification

      • CPR Certified

      • First Aid Certified

      • Water Safety Certified

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for guarding effectively through proper scanning of the pool and following of procedures during all swim team practices, hosted swim meets, swim lessons, and during regular operating open swim hours.

  • Responsible for effectively scanning the pool at all times while on duty, ensuring swimmer safety and maintaining a safe environment.

  • Consistently enforcing pool rules & procedures.

  • Ensuring a safe, and fun environment for both children and adults to interact and enjoy.

  • Keeping the pool deck clean and free of any obstructions.

  • Administering necessary emergency care as needed, including First Aid & CPR.

  • Appropriately responding to any potential member needs.

  • Cleaning restrooms, clubhouse, front desk area & pool deck etc.

  • Assisting with checking in Members & guests.

  • Assisting with vending sales.

  • Maintaining an accurate and current pool headcount.

  • Accurate reading and recording of pool water temperature, air temperature and chemical levels.

  • Enforcing safety standards and following emergency procedures.

  • Ensuring the State of Indiana Department of Health requirements are met.

  • Performing any other functions necessary for a smooth, efficient and safe operation.

  • Assisting with yard work such as mowing, sweeping sidewalks as needed.

To be considered for employment at Swanson Highlands Pool, all prerequisite training and certifications must be completed prior to May 24th, 2025. Proof of all necessary certified documentation required.
